Ingredients

2 large apples, peeled and diced

1 cup sugar

1 cup self-rising flour

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples and sugar, mixing until the apples are well-coated. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes so the apples release some of their juices.

Gradually add the self-rising flour to the apple and sugar mixture. Stir until just combined; be careful not to overmix. The batter will be thick and chunky thanks to the apples!

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice and serve warm or at room temperature, optionally dusted with powdered sugar for a touch of elegance.
