Ingredients

1 cup fresh blueberries

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

4 slices of artisan bread (such as ciabatta or sourdough)

4 oz goat cheese, softened

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Optional: Cracked black pepper for finishing

Instructions

Prepare the Balsamic Blueberry Reduction:

    - In a small saucepan, combine the fresh blueberries, balsamic vinegar, honey, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

      - Cook over medium heat, stirring gently until the blueberries start to burst and the mixture begins to thicken, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

        Toast the Bread:

          - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

            - Arrange the slices of artisan bread on a baking sheet.

              - Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crisp. You can also grill them for an extra smoky flavor.

                Assemble the Toasts:

                  - Spread a generous layer of softened goat cheese on each slice of toasted bread.

                    - Top each slice with a spoonful of the balsamic blueberry mixture.

                      Garnish:

                        - Finish with a few fresh basil leaves on top for a burst of flavor and color.

                          - Drizzle a little extra balsamic reduction over the top and sprinkle with cracked black pepper if desired.

                            Serve:

                              - Arrange the toast on a serving platter and serve warm or at room temperature as a fancy appetizer for your guests to enjoy!
