Ramen has its roots in Chinese wheat noodles but has evolved into a beloved staple in Japanese cuisine, where it has been embraced and adapted over the decades. The dish has become synonymous with quick, hearty meals. Meanwhile, stir-frying is a traditional Asian cooking technique that allows for rapid cooking over high heat, preserving the nutrients and crunch of the ingredients. This recipe brilliantly marries these two culinary traditions, bringing together the convenience of ramen with the vibrant flavors of a classic stir fry.

Ingredients

12 oz ramen noodles

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

2 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water

2 green onions, chopped

2 tbsp vegetable oil

Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Ramen: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine flank steak slices with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Prepare the Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets and bell pepper, stir-frying for about 2-3 minutes until vibrant and tender but still crunchy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Add the cooked vegetables back into the skillet with the beef. Toss to combine. Pour in the cornstarch mixture for thickening and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens.

Add Ramen: Gently fold in the cooked ramen noodles, coating them evenly with the sauce. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Serve: Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if desired.
