Ingredients

For the Beef Patties:

1 lb ground beef (80/20)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 egg

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

For the Gravy:

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tsp soy sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes:

2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed

1/2 cup milk

4 tbsp butter

Salt and pepper to taste

Chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Patties:

    - In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

      - Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

        Cook the Beef Patties:

          - Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

            - Add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.

              - Once cooked, remove patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

                Make the Gravy:

                  - In the same skillet, add butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour to create a roux. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.

                    - Gradually whisk in the beef broth and soy sauce, simmering until the gravy thickens (around 5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

                      Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:

                        - In a large pot, bring the cubed potatoes and enough salted water to cover them to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

                          - Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until creamy and smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.

                            Assemble the Dish:

                              - On a serving plate, place a generous scoop of mashed potatoes, top with a beef patty, and drizzle with the rich gravy.

                                - Garnish with chopped chives for a fresh touch.
