Ingredients

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract until combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Mix in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and optional walnuts with a spatula, ensuring they are evenly distributed.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft and slightly underbaked.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
