1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon salt

For the Filling:

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup chopped pecans

For the Bourbon Maple Sauce:

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup bourbon

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

For Garnish:

Extra chopped pecans (optional)

Maple syrup for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle (about 16x12 inches). Spread the softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top, followed by the chopped pecans.

Form the Rolls: Starting from the long edge of the rectangle, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.

Make the Bourbon Maple Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the maple syrup, bourbon, butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Buns: Pour the Bourbon Maple Sauce over the cut buns in the baking dish, letting it seep into the bottom.

Second Rise: Cover the pan with a towel and let the buns rise again for about 30 minutes.

Preheat the Oven: While the buns are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake: Once the buns have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Allow the buns to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Invert onto a serving platter to let the sticky sauce drip over the buns. Optionally drizzle with additional maple syrup or sprinkle with more pecans before serving.

Enjoy these decadent, indulgent Bourbon Maple Pecan Sticky Buns fresh out of the oven!
