Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F)

1 tbsp sugar

2 tsp salt

1/4 cup olive oil

1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

6 cloves garlic (minced)

1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)

1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Extra flour for dusting

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Make the Dough: In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.

Let It Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Form the Knots: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8-10 inches long. Tie it into a knot and tuck the ends underneath or secure them in the middle.

Second Rise: Place the knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure to leave enough space between them. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the Oven: While the knots are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Bake the Knots: Once the knots have risen, brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Final Touch: As soon as they come out of the oven, brush the knots with more garlic butter and sprinkle with additional parsley if desired. Serve warm.
