Ingredients

4 large croissants

4 ounces thinly sliced ham (such as smoked or honey ham)

4 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

1 egg (for egg wash)

Fresh parsley or chives, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Croissants: Slice each croissant in half horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through. This will create a pocket for the filling.

Mix the Spread: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, thyme (if using), and a pinch of black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

        Assemble the Croissants:

          - Brush the inside of each croissant with the butter mixture.

            - Layer slices of ham and Swiss cheese inside.

              - Close the croissants gently but firmly.

Egg Wash: In another small bowl, whisk the egg and brush the mixture over the tops of the croissants to achieve a golden finish.

Bake: Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives, and serve warm to enjoy the buttery, melty goodness!
