1 cup graham cracker crumbs

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts, optional)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

    Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, rolled oats, cocoa powder, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well until evenly combined.

      Add Wet Ingredients: Pour the melted butter and vanilla extract into the dry mixture. Stir until the mixture is moistened and crumbly. You should be able to form clumps when pressed together.

        Press into Dish: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly into an even layer with the back of a spatula or your hands, ensuring it's tightly packed.

          Bake the Base: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

            Add Chocolate Chips: Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips over the warm crust. Allow them to soften for about 5 minutes before spreading them into an even layer.
