Ingredients

1 bag (32 oz) frozen French fries

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (or vegetarian bacon)

1 medium onion, diced

1 cup sour cream

1 cup cream of mushroom soup

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped green onions or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Spread the frozen French fries evenly in a large baking dish or a casserole dish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until they begin to turn golden and crispy.

Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix together the sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined and smooth.

Remove the fries from the oven and reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C).

Layer the crumbled bacon and diced onion over the fries. Pour the sour cream mixture evenly over the fries, bacon, and onions, ensuring an even distribution.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses generously over the top of the casserole.

Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to brown.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives if desired.

Serve warm as a hearty side dish or a fun main course!
