The foundation of any cruffin lies in the dough, and for Cheesy Garlic Cruffins, croissant dough is the star of the show. While you can certainly make your dough from scratch, using store-bought croissant dough saves time and ensures consistent results. When selecting store-bought dough, look for high-quality options made with real butter for the best flavor and texture.

Ingredients

1 package of store-bought croissant dough (or homemade if preferred)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard muffin tin with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, fresh parsley, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well and set aside.

Roll Out the Dough: If using store-bought croissant dough, unroll it and separate the individual triangles or rectangles. If using homemade dough, roll it out into a large rectangle.

Layer the Dough: Brush a generous amount of the garlic butter over each piece of dough. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the surface.

Form the Cruffins: Starting from the wide end, roll each piece of dough tightly into a log. Then, twist the log into a spiral and place it upright in the greased muffin tin. Repeat for all pieces of dough.

Top with Parmesan: Once all cruffins are shaped and placed in the muffin tin, brush the tops with any remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese generously on top of each cruffin.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Cool and Garnish: Allow the cruffins to cool slightly in the tin for 5 minutes. Garnish with additional chopped parsley before serving.

Serve: Enjoy these cheesy garlic cruffins warm as a delightful snack, appetizer, or side dish!
