1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

1/2 cup cherry juice (from the drained cherries)

2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk chocolate chips (for coating)

Prep the Cherry Base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the chopped maraschino cherries and cherry juice. Mix well and set aside to allow the flavors to meld.

    Make the Candy Mixture: In a large bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, powdered peanut butter (if using), and salt. Stir to combine.

      Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the cherry mixture, peanut butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.

        Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures: Slowly add the wet cherry mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a thick dough forms. If you're using chopped nuts, fold them in at this point.
