Ingredients

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking powder

½ cup dark chocolate truffles (or chocolate ganache spheres)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Optional: Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter together, stirring until smooth and fully combined. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture, mixing until fully integrated.

In another bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture, stirring gently until no flour is visible.

Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Place the dark chocolate truffles (or ganache spheres) in the center of the batter, spacing them evenly. Carefully pour the remaining brownie batter on top, smoothing it out.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. The edges should be firm while the center remains soft and slightly underbaked for the lava effect.

After baking, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully lift them out using the parchment paper overhang and let cool on a wire rack for another 10 minutes.

To serve, cut the brownies into squares and dust with powdered sugar. For an indulgent twist, serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
