Ingredients

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Cream Cheese and Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy, using an electric mixer or a whisk.

Add Sugars: Gradually add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the cream cheese mixture, beating until well combined and fluffy.

Incorporate Egg and Vanilla: Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.

Blend Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.

Scoop the Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or two tablespoons, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Flatten Slightly: Gently flatten the tops of the cookie dough balls with the back of a fork or your fingers.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly soft; they will firm up as they cool.

Cool and Dust: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: About 24 cookies
