Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)

1/2 lb ground pork

1 cup fresh breadcrumbs (made from crusty bread)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 large egg

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Olive oil for frying

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, chopped onion, egg, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Shape the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1-1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to crowd the pan, and brown them on all sides (about 3-4 minutes). Once browned, transfer the meatballs back to the baking sheet.

Bake the browned meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and let it simmer over low heat. Gently add the meatballs to the sauce and coat them well.

Serve the meatballs with spaghetti, in a sub, or as is, garnished with additional parsley and Parmesan if desired.
