Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup blue frosting (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup crumbled chocolate cookies (like Oreos)

Additional chocolate chips for decoration

Optional: gummy eyes for decoration

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the bottoms of four small mason jars or ramekins.

Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Then, add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.

Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, vanilla extract, and whole milk. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Pour Batter: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared mason jars, filling each jar about halfway.

Bake: Place the jars on a baking sheet for easier handling and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Once baked, allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

Layer the Jars: Once the cakes are cool, start layering. Take a cooled cake from the jar and crumble it into smaller pieces. Put a layer of cake crumble at the bottom of each jar, followed by a layer of blue frosting.

Add Cookies: Add a crumbled layer of chocolate cookies on top of the frosting, followed by another layer of cake crumbles. Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the jar, finishing with blue frosting.

Decorate: Top the final layer of frosting with chocolate chips and, if desired, a pair of gummy eyes to create a fun “Cookie Monster” look.

Chill and Serve: Place the jars in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. Enjoy your whimsical Cookie Monster Cake Jars chilled!
