Ingredients
  

For the Choux Pastry:

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

4 large eggs

1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Cream Filling:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache:

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions
 

Prepare the Choux Pastry:

    - In a medium saucepan, bring the water and butter to a boil over medium heat.

      - Add the flour and salt all at once, stirring vigorously until the mixture pulls away from the sides and forms a ball, about 2–3 minutes.

        - Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

          - Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

            Bake the Pastry:

              - Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

                - Transfer the choux pastry dough into a piping bag fitted with a large round tip. Pipe 12 (3-inch) circles onto the prepared sheet.

                  - Bake for 20–25 minutes or until puffed and golden. Turn off the oven, leave the door ajar, and let the puffs cool completely.

                    Make the Cream Filling:

                      - In a mixing bowl, whip the cream until it begins to thicken. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.

                        Assemble the Cake:

                          - Carefully slice each cream puff in half. Fill each bottom half generously with the whipped cream filling and place the tops back on to form cream puff “sandwiches.”

                            - Layer the filled cream puffs on a serving platter to create a cake shape.

                              Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:

                                - Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until simmering. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips and butter. Let sit for a couple of minutes, then stir until smooth.

                                  - Drizzle or pour the ganache over the assembled cream puff cake.

                                    Chill and Serve:

                                      - Refrigerate the cake for at least 30 minutes to set the ganache before serving. Slice and enjoy!
