Ingredients

8 oz mozzarella cheese sticks

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese: Cut each mozzarella cheese stick into thirds to create bite-sized pieces.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs in the second bowl, and combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.

Coat the Cheese Bites: Take a piece of cheese and roll it in the flour until fully coated. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s completely submerged. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing a little to ensure it sticks. Repeat for all cheese pieces.

Chill: Place the breaded cheese bites on a baking sheet and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This helps the coating adhere better during frying.

Heat Oil: In a deep skillet, pour in enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom (about 1/2 inch deep). Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately.

Fry the Cheese Bites: Carefully add a few cheese bites to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve: Once all the cheese bites are fried, serve them hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
