1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons red food coloring

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

For Garnish:

Red velvet cupcake crumbs (optional)

Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Set aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add Eggs and Color: Beat in the eggs one at a time until well combined. Then mix in the red food coloring and vanilla extract until the color is uniform.

Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix the dough.

Shape Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly soft. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Make the Cream Cheese Frosting: While the cookies cool, beat the cream cheese and butter together in a mixing bowl until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until creamy and combined.

Frost the Cookies: Once the cookies are completely cool, generously frost them with the cream cheese frosting using a spatula or piping bag.

Garnish (Optional): Sprinkle red velvet cupcake crumbs and chocolate shavings over the top of the frosted cookies for an extra special touch.

Serve and Enjoy: Let the cookies set for a few minutes if frosted, then serve and enjoy your delectable Crumbl-inspired Red Velvet Cupcake Cookies!
