1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon powdered sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

      Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

        Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

          Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

            Prepare the French Silk Topping: In a medium saucepan, melt ½ cup of butter and 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

              Whisk Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and 1 cup granulated sugar together with an electric mixer on high speed for about 5 minutes, or until light and fluffy. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture, mixing until well combined.

                Chill: Place the chocolate mixture in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up slightly.

                  Whip the Cream: In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add the powdered sugar and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, then continue whisking until stiff peaks form.

                    Combine: Gently fold the whipped cream into the chilled chocolate mixture until smooth and no streaks remain.

                      Top the Brownies: Spread the rich French silk topping over the cooled brownies, smoothing out the top. Decorate with chocolate shavings or curls if desired.

                        Chill Again: Refrigerate the brownies for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
