Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper (any color), chopped

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

Brown the Chicken: Increase the heat to medium-high, and add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it’s no longer pink, approximately 5–7 minutes.

Season and Simmer: Sprinkle in the Cajun seasoning, stirring well. Then add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Mix until combined.

Cook the Mixture: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Prepare the Buns: While the chicken is simmering, lightly toast the hamburger buns on a separate skillet or in the oven until golden brown.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture generously onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Garnish: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the filling for a burst of color and flavor.

Serve & Enjoy: Place the top half of the bun on the chicken, and serve immediately with fries or a side salad for a complete meal.
