Ingredients

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 cup walnuts, chopped

1 cup rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Optional: 1 cup chocolate chips (for drizzling)

Instructions

Prepare Your Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to make for easy cleanup later.

Toast the Nuts: In a skillet over medium heat, add the chopped pecans and walnuts. Toast them for about 5-7 minutes, stirring regularly until they are fragrant and lightly browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

Make the Praline Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, unsalted butter, corn syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.

Caramelize the Mixture: Allow it to boil without stirring for about 3-4 minutes until it turns a light golden color. Be careful not to overcook as it can burn easily.

Add Vanilla and Baking Soda: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda (the mixture will bubble up slightly, so be cautious).

Combine with Dry Ingredients: Immediately pour the caramel mixture over the toasted nuts and rice cereal in a large mixing bowl. Gently fold until everything is completely coated with the caramel.

Spread on Baking Sheet: Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and use a spatula to spread it out into an even layer. Allow it to cool for about 30 minutes.

Optional Chocolate Drizzle: If using chocolate chips, melt them in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled praline crunch using a fork or a spoon.

Break into Pieces: Once the praline is completely cooled, break it into bite-sized pieces.

Store and Enjoy: Store the praline crunch in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week (if it lasts that long!).
