Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon pickle juice

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Cooking spray (for air frying)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and pickle juice. Add the chicken pieces to the mixture, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to overnight for maximum flavor.

Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix together the flour, powdered sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. This mixture will give your nuggets that signature flavor.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade and allow excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure the coating sticks. Shake off any excess flour.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry the Nuggets: Spray the basket of the air fryer with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place a single layer of the coated chicken nuggets in the basket, ensuring they are not touching. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.

Cook: Air fry the nuggets for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Serve: Once cooked, remove the nuggets from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauces like honey mustard or barbecue sauce for an authentic taste!
