Ingredients

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

3 green onions, finely chopped (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sauce:

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: In a large bowl, season the cut chicken pieces with salt and pepper.

Dredging Station: Set up a dredging station with three plates: one with cornstarch, one with beaten eggs, and the last with all-purpose flour.

Coat the Chicken: Dip the chicken pieces first in cornstarch, shaking off the excess, then in the beaten eggs, and finally in the flour until fully coated. Set aside.

Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Heat over medium-low, stirring regularly until the mixture is well combined and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated chicken pieces in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Combine with Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, toss the fried chicken pieces with the prepared sauce until well coated.

Serve: Plate the crispy sesame chicken and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Enjoy hot with rice or noodles!
