Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.

Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and creamy.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring until just blended.

Fold in the chopped pecans, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and even it out with a spatula.

Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, then drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter on top, swirling gently to create a marble effect.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean (a few crumbs are okay, but no wet batter).

Once baked, remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top. Allow them to sit for a couple of minutes to soften, then spread them out into an even layer with a spatula.

Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top of the chocolate layer while it’s still warm. If desired, sprinkle with flaky sea salt for an extra touch of flavor.

Allow the turtle bars to cool completely in the pan. Use the parchment overhang to lift them out and cut into squares or bars.

Serve and enjoy your delicious turtle bars with friends or keep them stored in an airtight container for later indulgence!
