Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream filling)

Optional: Chocolate glaze or melted chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Pâte à Choux:

    - In a medium saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture comes to a boil.

      - Reduce the heat to low and add the flour and salt all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a ball, about 2 minutes.

        Incorporate Eggs:

          - Remove the pan from heat and allow the mixture to cool for about 5 minutes.

            - Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy. Stir in the vanilla extract.

              Pipe the Dough:

                - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

                  - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a piping bag fitted with a large round tip, pipe dough into 2-inch rounds, spaced about 2 inches apart.

                    Bake:

                      - Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the puffs are golden brown and have puffed up. Do not open the oven door during baking.

                        - Once fully baked, turn off the oven, crack the door open, and let the puffs cool completely in the oven for about 10 minutes to avoid collapsing.

                          Make the Cream Filling:

                            - In a medium bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form.

                              - Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue to beat until stiff peaks form.

                                Fill the Puffs:

                                  - Once the cream puffs have cooled, cut a small slit or hole in the side of each puff.

                                    - Use a piping bag or a spoon to fill each puff generously with whipped cream.

                                      Optional Glaze:

                                        - Drizzle chocolate glaze over the filled cream puffs if desired, or serve plain.

                                          Serve:

                                            - Enjoy your delightful cream puffs as a light dessert or sweet snack!
