2 tablespoons honey (preferably floral honey for flavor)

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Sea salt, to taste

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Fresh mint or basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread:

    - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

      - Slice the baguette or ciabatta into ½-inch thick slices.

        - Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.

          - Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until the crostini are golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

            Make the Ricotta Mixture:

              - In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, lemon juice, and a pinch of sea salt. Stir until well blended and creamy. You can also add freshly cracked black pepper to taste for an extra kick.

                Assemble the Crostini:

                  - Spread a generous dollop of the ricotta mixture onto each toasted crostini.

                    - Top with a slice of fresh fig or a few pieces of dried fig, as desired.

                      - Drizzle a small amount of honey over the figs on each crostini.

                        Finish and Serve:

                          - If you like, lightly sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper for flavor enhancement.

                            - Garnish with fresh mint or basil leaves for a pop of color and freshness.

                              - Serve immediately for the best texture, or arrange them on a platter and serve at room temperature.
