Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

3/4 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

A pinch of salt for topping

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it's frothy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare Garlic Butter Mix: In a bowl, combine the room temperature butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, garlic powder (if using), black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.

Shape the Rolls: After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish, touching each other slightly.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30-40 minutes, or until they’ve puffed up nicely.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Add Garlic Butter: Once the rolls have risen, generously spoon the garlic butter mixture over the tops of each roll, ensuring that some butter gets in between them.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.

Serve: Let the rolls cool for a few minutes, then brush with any leftover garlic butter. Serve warm and enjoy with more garlic butter for dipping!
