Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

8 ounces linguine or spaghetti

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup dry white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc)

1 lemon, juiced and zested

1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley

Salt and pepper to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.

Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Cook the Shrimp: Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Deglaze with Wine: In the same skillet, pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it reduces slightly.

Combine Ingredients: Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, lemon juice, and zest. Whisk until the butter has melted and the sauce has thickened slightly. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet alongside the drained pasta. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired sauce consistency.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from the heat and mix in chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately with grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired.
