Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped

1 large onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 medium carrots, grated

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Sauté the Vegetables: Add olive oil to the skillet. Stir in the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and grated carrots, and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add Cabbage: Gradually stir in the chopped cabbage, allowing it to wilt down before adding more, about 5 minutes. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

Season: Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juice), Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.

Simmer: Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and all flavors are well married.

Taste and Adjust: Give the skillet a taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.

Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives if desired and serve hot.
