Ingredients

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup crushed Hot Cheetos

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking oil (for frying)

Optional: marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese: Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks roughly 4 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.

Set Up Coating Stations: In one bowl, add the flour. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine the crushed Hot Cheetos with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Coat the Cheese Sticks: Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll it in the Hot Cheeto mixture, pressing gently to adhere well. Repeat with all sticks.

Chill the Coated Sticks: Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a parchment-lined plate and freeze for at least 30 minutes to an hour. This helps keep them from melting too quickly during frying.

Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat about 2 inches of cooking oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test this by dropping a small piece of bread in; if it bubbles and sizzles, the oil is ready.

Fry the Cheese Sticks: Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve: Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.
