Ingredients

3 ripe avocados

1 small red onion, finely diced

1 medium tomato, diced (preferably vine-ripened)

1-2 jalapeño peppers, seeds removed and finely chopped (adjust to taste)

2 cloves garlic, minced

Juice of 2 fresh limes

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon cumin for extra depth

Instructions

Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky.

Add Flavors: Add the finely diced red onion, chopped tomatoes, minced garlic, and jalapeños to the mashed avocado.

Season It Up: Squeeze in the lime juice to add freshness and prevent browning of the avocado. Add the chopped cilantro. If using, sprinkle in the cumin for an earthier flavor profile.

Mix Together: Gently fold all the ingredients together until well-combined. Be careful not to over-mix; you want to maintain some texture.

Taste and Adjust: Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. It’s important to adjust according to your preference and the ripeness of the avocados!

Chill (Optional): If you like, cover the guacamole with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to minimize air exposure and let it chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes for the flavors to meld.

Serve: Serve the guacamole in a bowl garnished with extra cilantro and diced tomatoes, alongside tortilla chips, tacos, or fresh vegetable sticks.
