Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup diced fresh jalapeños (seeds removed for less heat)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 (12 oz) bottle of beer (preferably a pale ale or lager)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Extra cheddar cheese and jalapeños for topping (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

Add Cheese and Jalapeños: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.

Pour in Beer: Slowly pour in the beer and melted butter, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. If desired, sprinkle extra cheddar cheese and jalapeños on top for added flavor and presentation.

Bake the Bread: Place the loaf in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Bread: Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve: Slice the bread warm or at room temperature. Enjoy it fresh with butter, or as a side with soups and salads.
