2 cups crushed pretzels

1/2 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Mandarin Orange Layer:

1 can (15 oz) mandarin oranges, drained and patted dry

1 box (3 oz) orange jello

2 cups boiling water

1 cup cold water

Instructions
 

Prepare the Pretzel Crust:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

      - In a medium bowl, combine the crushed pretzels, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Stir until the pretzels are evenly coated.

        - Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

          - Bake for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

            Make the Cream Cheese Layer:

              - In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.

                - Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until fully incorporated.

                  - Fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract until combined and creamy.

                    - Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.

                      Prepare the Mandarin Orange Layer:

                        - In a separate bowl, dissolve the orange jello in 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved.

                          - Add 1 cup of cold water to the jello mixture and stir well.

                            - Allow it to cool for about 10 minutes, then gently add the drained mandarin oranges.

                              Assemble the Salad:

                                - Carefully pour the jello and mandarin orange mixture over the cream cheese layer in the baking dish.

                                  - Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the jello is fully set.

                                    Serve:

                                      - Once set, cut into squares and serve chilled. Garnish with additional whipped topping and mandarin oranges if desired.
