Ingredients

1 lb (450g) baby bella or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

Prep the Mushrooms: If needed, clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth. Avoid rinsing under water as they can absorb moisture.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it's foamy and begins to brown slightly, about 2-3 minutes.

Sauté the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds until fragrant, but be careful not to let it burn.

Cook the Mushrooms: Add the cleaned mushrooms to the skillet in a single layer. Allow them to cook undisturbed for about 3-4 minutes until they begin to brown.

Season: Sprinkle the thyme over the mushrooms, then drizzle in the soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and golden brown.

Finishing Touches: Remove from heat and toss in freshly chopped parsley for added flavor and a pop of color. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.

Serve: Enjoy the garlic butter mushrooms warm as a delicious side dish to your favorite steak or grilled meat, or serve over garlic bread for a delectable appetizer!
