Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 regular size package of chocolate pudding mix (instant)

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet)

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Dry with Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Incorporate Pudding Mix: Fold in the chocolate pudding mix, chocolate chips, and chopped pecans until well distributed.

Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Dust: Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar for a decorative touch.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve as a delightful dessert. Enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence!
