Ingredients

1 box of yellow cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Press about 2/3 of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to create a crust layer. Set the remaining dough aside.

In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar, the remaining egg, and vanilla extract. Continue to beat until well combined and creamy.

Pour the cream cheese mixture over the pressed cake layer in the baking pan. Spread it evenly across the surface.

Crumble the reserved dough evenly on top of the cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts, if using, over the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set but still slightly gooey.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting them into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
