Ingredients

12 chicken drumsticks

1 cup of BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken drumsticks under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps the skin get crispy.

Make the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well to create a flavorful marinade.

Marinate the Drumsticks: Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl with the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. For best results, let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. If time allows, marinating for a few hours or overnight will enhance the flavor even more.

Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil (for easy cleanup) and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the marinated drumsticks on the rack in a single layer. This allows air to circulate around them, promoting even cooking.

Bake the Chicken: Place the drumsticks in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy. During the last 5 minutes of baking, brush on extra BBQ sauce for an extra sticky glaze.

Serve: Remove the drumsticks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving to add a pop of color.

Enjoy: Serve hot with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans.
