Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche bread, cubed

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

1 cup blueberries

1/4 cup maple syrup + extra for serving

Powdered sugar, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: In a large bowl, combine the cubed brioche bread with the sliced strawberries and blueberries. Gently toss to combine and set aside.

Whisk the Mixture: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well blended.

Combine: Pour the egg mixture over the bread and fruit combination, ensuring all pieces of bread are coated. Use a spatula to press down gently on the bread to absorb the liquid.

Chill: Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours). This allows the bread to soak up the rich custard.

Preheat Oven: When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Casserole: Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and uncover. Drizzle the maple syrup evenly over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

Serve: Once baked, allow the casserole to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar for garnish before serving.

Enjoy: Slice into squares and serve warm with additional maple syrup on the side. Enjoy your Sweet Morning Delight!
