Ingredients

Lasagna Noodles: 12 sheets (no-boil preferred)

Ground Beef: 1 pound (80/20 lean)

Bacon: 6 strips, diced

Onion: 1 small, finely chopped

Garlic: 4 cloves, minced

Cream Cheese: 8 ounces, softened

Sour Cream: 1 cup

Parmesan Cheese: 1 cup, grated

Cheddar Cheese: 2 cups, shredded

Crushed Tomatoes: 28 ounces (1 can)

Beef Broth: 1 cup

Dried Italian Herbs: 1 tablespoon

Salt and Pepper: to taste

Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon

Fresh Parsley: for garnishing (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Bacon and Beef: In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. In the same skillet, drain excess bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

Brown the Ground Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs. Cook until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease.

Add Crushed Tomatoes and Broth: Stir in the crushed tomatoes and beef broth to the beef mixture. Bring it to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes to meld flavors. Stir in the cooked bacon. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, half of the Parmesan cheese, and half of the cheddar cheese. Mix well until smooth and creamy. Season with pinch of salt and pepper.

Layer the Lasagna: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the beef mixture on the bottom. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the beef. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat the layers: another layer of beef mixture, followed by noodles, and the remaining cheese mixture. Top with the final layer of noodles.

Final Topping: Pour the remaining beef mixture over the top layer of noodles. Finally, sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese.

Bake: Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray). Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Let it Rest: Once baked, let the lasagna rest for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. This helps it set and makes for cleaner cuts.

Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm. Enjoy your decadent lasagna!
