Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Make the Cookie Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

      Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips (if using).
