Ingredients

1 cup chopped pecans

1 (15 oz) can of pumpkin puree

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 box of yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut (optional)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until everything is well incorporated.

Layer the Mixture: Spread the pumpkin mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Add Pecans: Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the pumpkin mixture evenly to cover.

Cake Mix Time: Carefully sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the pecans and pumpkin layer. Do not stir; it’s meant to create a layered effect.

Melted Butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer. This will help it bake into a crispy topping.

Optional Toppings: If you're using shredded coconut and chocolate chips, sprinkle them on top of the melted butter layer.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 40-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is set.

Cool and Serve: Allow the dump cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving. It's great on its own but can also be paired with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!

Enjoy: Slice and indulge in your delicious pecan pie dump cake!
