The foundation of our Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Bake starts with penne pasta. This tubular pasta is not only easy to cook but also a perfect vessel for holding on to the rich sauces and flavors of the dish. Its ridged surface allows the creamy cheese and savory beef to cling to it, ensuring each bite is filled with a burst of flavor. While penne is the traditional choice, feel free to experiment with other pasta shapes, such as rotini or rigatoni, for added texture.

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 cup (240ml) beef broth

1 cup (240ml) heavy cream

2 cups (8 oz) provolone cheese, shredded

1 cup (4 oz) mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/4 cup (60ml) Worcestershire sauce

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are softened. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Cook the Beef: Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the sliced sirloin to the center. Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for about 5-6 minutes until the beef is browned and no longer pink. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and remove from heat.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, sautéed beef and vegetables, beef broth, heavy cream, and 1 1/2 cups of provolone cheese. Mix until everything is evenly coated.

Assemble the Bake: Pour the pasta mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.

Add Cheese Topping: Sprinkle the remaining provolone cheese and the mozzarella cheese over the top of the pasta bake.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired, and serve hot!
