Ingredients

1 pound refrigerated pizza dough

1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sliced pepperoni

1 cup cooked Italian sausage, crumbled (optional)

1/2 cup diced bell peppers

1/2 cup sliced black olives

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly with cooking spray.

Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12x15 inches. Make sure the thickness is even.

Spread Sauce: Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Add Fillings: Layer the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Then, evenly distribute the pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage (if using), diced bell peppers, and black olives over the cheese.

Season It: Sprinkle the dried oregano and garlic powder over the top for added flavor.

Roll It Up: Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape, sealing in the fillings. Pinch the ends to secure them and tuck them under the log to create a sealed stromboli.

Prepare for Baking: Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil and then use the beaten egg to create an egg wash over the surface for a nice golden color.

Make Slits: Using a sharp knife, make several diagonal slits across the top of the stromboli to allow steam to escape during baking.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the stromboli is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cool and Slice: Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes. Slice the stromboli into pieces and serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
