Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup caramel sauce

1 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Spread half of the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, pressing it down with your hands or a spatula.

Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the first layer of dough.

Take the remaining dough and crumble it over the caramel layer. Sprinkle it evenly so that the caramel is mostly covered.

Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the crumbled dough and sprinkle with sea salt.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing into squares. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
