Ingredients

For the Brownies:

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon espresso powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Salted Caramel Sauce:

1 cup granulated sugar

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon sea salt

For Topping:

Whipped cream (optional)

Extra sea salt for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns a golden amber color, stirring frequently to prevent burning. This will take about 8-10 minutes. Once golden, carefully whisk in the cubed butter until melted. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, whisking continuously until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt. Allow to cool while you prepare the brownies.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper for easier removal of brownies.

Make the Brownie Batter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Let it cool for a couple of minutes, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, espresso powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Bake the Brownies: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Drizzle half of the prepared salted caramel sauce over the batter, then add the remaining brownie batter on top. Use a knife to swirl the caramel into the brownie batter slightly.

Final Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan.

Serve: Once cooled, drizzle the remaining salted caramel sauce over the top of the brownies. If desired, add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of sea salt to garnish. Cut into squares and serve.
