4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 cup mini marshmallows

1 cup granulated sugar

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for topping)

1/2 cup golden syrup (or light corn syrup)

1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make the Salted Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, and golden syrup. Stir continuously until the mixture begins to boil. Allow it to boil for 4-5 minutes without stirring, until it turns a golden brown color.

      Add Cream and Salt: Carefully whisk in the heavy cream. The mixture will bubble up, so be cautious. Once combined, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of sea salt. Let the caramel cool slightly.

        Combine with Rice Krispies: In a large mixing bowl, add the Rice Krispies and mini marshmallows. Pour the warm salted caramel over the Rice Krispies and mix gently but quickly until all the cereal is evenly coated.

          Press and Set: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly with greased hands or a spatula to compact the mixture, ensuring it holds together well.

            Add Chocolate (Optional): If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips on top and lightly push them into the mixture before it sets.
