Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 bell pepper (any color), sliced

1 large onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

3 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon black pepper, coarsely crushed

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the meat evenly and let it marinate for about 20 minutes.

Prepare the Vegetables: While the steak marinates, slice the bell pepper and onion, and mince the garlic and ginger.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Add the marinated steak, spreading it in a single layer. Sear the meat until browned, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.

Stir-fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onions and bell pepper, stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Add garlic and ginger, stir-frying for an additional minute until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the steak to the pan with the vegetables. Pour in the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Sprinkle with the coarsely crushed black pepper. Stir everything well to combine and heat through for another 2-3 minutes.

Serve: Transfer the sizzling pepper steak to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve immediately over a bed of cooked rice or noodles.
