Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup milk

2 cups peeled and sliced apples (such as Granny Smith)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

Extra cinnamon sugar (1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1 Tbsp cinnamon) for topping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter will be slightly lumpy, which is okay; do not overmix.

Prepare the apples: In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar and nutmeg until they are well coated.

Assemble the cobbler: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Layer the apple mixture on top of the batter, ensuring it covers the surface well. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture generously over the apples.

Bake: Place the cobbler in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender. A toothpick inserted into the cobbler should come out clean.

Serve: Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. It’s delicious warm served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top!
