Ingredients

1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)

2 cups mascarpone cheese

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

24 ladyfinger cookies

Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Dark chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.

In another bowl, gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream until smooth and well combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for about 1 second on each side (do not let them soak too long). Lay half of the dipped ladyfingers in a single layer in a 9x9 inch serving dish.

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.

Repeat the process with the remaining ladyfingers, dipping them briefly in the coffee and layering them over the mascarpone mixture.

Top with the remaining mascarpone mixture, smoothing it again with a spatula.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.

Serve chilled and enjoy your delightful Tiramisu!
